May 18, 2012
I suck at posting things. And I’m on vacation. But this weekend was amazing and I can’t wait to catch up with everything else.
The beginning of the week was boring. I stayed in the house while my sister went to work and her boyfriend played video games. I mostly just caught up on surveys and things online. Oh…and I finished Adonis Camp again and restarted Unbelievable Outing (that shit be crazy!)
It all started on Friday. I went to bed at 8 the night before and woke up at 1am. It was possibly because of the rumor Suju was going to arrive at LAX. Around 2-3, Ryeowook tweeted that they were on their way to Incheon and would be arriving at 3pm the next day. Sungmin wouldn’t be coming, though, because he had to attend his grandmother’s funeral. I watched a Jung Il Woo film while waiting for photos of them at Incheon airport and then knocked out.
We went to LAX after dropping the car off at her work and getting lunch at Burger King. We took the shuttle from her work to LAX. The fans were unsure where anybody was going to come from. We thought where EXO had arrived earlier in the morning. We waited hours but Super Junior and some other SM artists went out of the back door. It was a crazy stampede of Kpop fans! When we got there, we saw nothing :(There were fancams later in the day that confirmed no Sungmin.
So we went back to the EXO exit and Shinee came out later. The stampede had amped everybody up so girls were trying to get in the van and threw gifts inside. I thought I saw Taemin, but it turns out I saw Onew. My sister took a picture of Minho. We were very disappointed after waiting for 3 hours, but I still had hope for Sungmin. I didn’t wanna get my hopes up though. I checked all day but there was no more news of Sungmin possibly leaving with the rest of SNSD.
Intuition
It’s May 5th. Cinco de Mayo….I just noticed that. I am a bad Mexican-American ;)
I think my dependence on intuition is only increasing. I just realized that I have spent hours looking at bags and shoes *I know, “typical girl” haha* But seriously, I have been staring at things (in preparation for SM Town Anaheim, so no telling…but jewelry and iron-ons) online for days just waiting to “feel” like they were the right things. And that they were worth the cost. (I’m also very cheap) And some of them were impulse buys because I “knew” they were what I needed. I have like super concentration when I’m considering my options. It’s like I’m on a mission for the right feeling. I haven’t even eaten…and I love food…oh so much.
My parents were basically out all day. My mom usually gets me to eat even after I’ve just eaten. So yeah, sounds like I’m losing weight during college haha
April 16-22, 2012
On Monday, I worked for an ELD teacher I subbed before. But when I arrived during 2nd period, she wasn’t prepared for a sub. She began writing the lesson plan during break. She told me to start the class when she was still there. It was just awkward. Then she distracted the class by handing back papers. It made no sense. Then I had to change classes for Academic Support. There was another sub for another teacher. I used the combination the teacher gave me to open the lock of a computer cart. So much pressure! The seniors worked online (some for online classes, others for fun). Students were trying to guess my first name. It took a few minutes haha Otherwise the day was pretty uneventful. The Hmong and Mexican students were teaching each other bad words from their respective languages.
April 9-15, 2011
I got addicted to this auction site called Listia. I was referred by an ELF at the SS4LA FB group.
I guess I only worked 2 days this week. It was still eventful though.
Wednesday was for English but it turned out to be drama too. So we got to watch The Producers. During 6th period, there was a lockdown. It’s so weird how calm I stay in emergency situations. I didn’t even lock the door in time because I couldn’t find the keys (they were under papers). So I had to stand by the door just in case someone came in. I’m tougher than I look haha I didn’t want to open the door to lock it way after the fact and draw attention to my class. The kids were pretty chill. One received a text that a suspicious person was on campus. They ended lockdown and we were able to go home safely. The whole school was in an eery mood though.
I worked 3 hours in art on Thursday. I just supervised students as they worked.
And on April 15th, Kangin was released from the army!
April 2-8, 2012
I just have to include the April Fool’s prank from Leeteuk. He gave out his real phone number! This guy…seriously, he blew up his phone :D
I enjoyed my spring break. The 1940 census was released on April 2, so I worked on that for days. I was really excited to find my grandma at age 8. She wasn’t born in 1931 so wasn’t in the 1930 census. I also found my great-great grandparents who moved to Merced first.
Michael Shermer gave a talk at the UC. It was great to see people I met over the years together. My parents liked it too. I got my book signed but I was so awkward when talking to him *hides face in shame*
Eunhyuk birthday was on the 4th. There’s really nothing to say. April was all about Kangin, sorry. Oh, and I bought tickets to SM Town LA on Thursday :D We got $300 seats so we get to see the dress rehearsal. Still not floor, but we get to sit down and have a great view.
On Friday, we drove to Long Beach and picked up the Korea Music Festival tickets at the Korea Times office in LA. We rested and planned for Saturday.
On Saturday, we visited my mom’s father’s sister’s grave in Long Beach. My mom hadn’t been. We visited historical LA at Olivera St. My mom finally got to visit the church where her grandmother was baptized. (All of this information was discovered by me) I looked for a bag but ended up just getting fruit. We ate at Togos at around 4 and went to Koreatown. I bought my sister the SS2 DVD cause she needs to learn haha While looking for a bag, my parents got into it again. Apparently my dad walked away from my mom when his sister called him on the phone…and this caused WWIII. We went to Citadel because my mom wanted to go to Coach (no respect for Dad now, seriously). I got a bag from Kipling that I fell in love with. My sister’s boyfriend was right that the one’s in the Koreatown mall were knockoffs.
On Sunday morning, my sister showed us around her work before we left. We went to Burger King and I got oatmeal mmm (the things I remember a month later hahaha). On the ride home, I also had a bit of candy because Easter = candy day! I almost went 40 days without candy. There was one instance where I ate See’s chocolate so it wouldn’t melt in the car.
March 26-March 30, 2012
For Monday and Tuesday, I worked for 2 different History teachers.
I didn’t even know students were testing on Tuesday and had to monitor them. I had a problem student who I made sit outside in the cold. That kid seriously has problems with authority. I picked up a job for Thursday but nothing for Wednesday.
On Wednesday, I took the Jeopardy online test. I didn’t do very good though
On Thursday, I worked for the same Spanish teacher again. It was a testing day so the short classes took a small quiz and the long classes watched Selena.
I didn’t have any meetings because it was spring break for the UC.
On the 29th I learned that I was accepted by SF State
I changed schools for Friday and they had a different schedule. So I had 3 long classes. They took the benchmark and then watched Tommy Boy. I wish I could’ve finished it :(
March 24-25, 2012
So I’m writing this on May 3rd. This break got way out of hand. But my parents are fighting so I figured perfect opportunity since I’m in my room blasting music like nobody’s business.
On Saturday, I went to my cousin/godfather’s daughter’s 13th birthday party. It’s crazy how much I feel a stranger with my own family. I guess it happened in high school when my closest cousin went to college and I didn’t come over anymore. She always said we should hang out and I should visit, but I don’t drive so it was sorta her responsibility.
On Sunday, I finally got a new phone :D It’s a Samsung Galaxy Note. I knew what I wanted when I walked in and my parents thought it was a good investment too. I don’t need to buy a camera or a tablet now. I always have the internet!
How I got into Korean stuff (long story)
Perfection was my first album release as an ELF. I learned about Super Junior from the Kdrama You’re Beautiful (the manager dances to Sorry Sorry and Go Mi Nam tries to memorize all 13 members’ names).
Getting into Korean media was a fluke. A friend recommended what he thought was a Korean movie. I think it was actually Chinese. Anyways, I ended up finding Korean movies on Youtube. I was lucky enough to find a bunch of Cha Tae Hyun films. The first one was weird but hilarious (lots of slapping), so I watched more and he quickly became my favorite actor. People kept mentioning the drama You’re Beautiful in the comments, so I watched it. I loved the sound of the Korean language, so I downloaded the soundtrack and tried to learn the words. I found out about CN Blue and FT Island and bought some CDs on eBay.
I looked into Super Junior’s music videos because I thought music would make learning the language easier. And I’m not gonna lie, I thought they were alright (and learning all their names did seem like a daunting task). Kangin caught my attention in Sorry Sorry, so I looked him up on Wikipedia and found out I had watched him in a movie (I had written his character’s name down to look up the actor because he was adorable!) I found he acted in a movie with Super Junior and watched Attack on the Pinup Boys. They are such dorks, how could I not fall in love with their bathroom humor? I couldn’t believe celebrities would make a movie about wanting to get hit with poop. I ended up watching Full House, Adonis Camp and EHB…I was hooked for life. So, I got into Super Junior mostly for their brotherhood and personalities. It makes me so happy to think people like them exist and that I can help them in some way. I just want them to be able to do what they enjoy, entertaining us with their dorkiness along the way :D
Whoa - April 18
I haven’t written in like a month? I’ve been meaning to catch up but I’ve been genuinely busy. I keep forgetting to write. I miss you kekeke Well, I’m gonna post something I ranted about
March 21-23, 2012
Ugh, I’m writing late all the time. It’s Sunday and I’m writing for Wednesday-Friday.
I really don’t do much outside of work and exercise.
WED: I got a 5-hour job for special ed. At first they sent me to the wrong classroom with the wrong schedule and keys *sigh* But when I got to the right classroom, it was just study hall and there were two other teachers. Besides that, I had a special day class where we went to the garden. The kids had behavioral issues but they’re like little kids so it’s not that bad.
THURS: I wasn’t going to work but I got a 3-hour job for a History teacher I had last week. The usual kids acted up. Especially one I had 5 times in 2 weeks. I went to Freethinkers which was a social. Actually talked to a few people. Stayed and chilled with Brittany after like a month or so.
FRI: I worked for a new math teacher. Plus, I get an extra period since 1st period was prep. 6 hours is good :D Their worksheet had an easy side and a hard side so they finished the easy side early and didn’t want to do the hard side. I played music but the last two classes were horrible. I got home and we watched Hunger Games. It was really good. I can’t wait for the next one :D
